Vibrant ingredients, shared experience, enticing food

Apr 27th, 2009

These pictures say a lot about the work Birgit has done with SIFA Fireside, sharing her passion for great food with disadvantaged people.

SIFA offers new directions to people on low incomes at the margins of the community. In that situation, enjoying your food and healthy eating are both likely to cheer you up and help you get back on your feet. But when you’re short of money it’s easy to assume you can’t afford good, enjoyable food. Birgit’s Five-a-day-on-a-budget “training” isn’t some wartime rationing propaganda poster: it’s about good company and good rapport as well as good food.

At the planning stage, Birgit (right) discusses food with one of the course participants.
